Shader: Sea Water

About

This realistic water shader has been created in Unreal Engine. It has been created in order to replicate the type of water seen in games like “GTA5” as a realistic standalone but without a great performance cost. The shader is interactive through exposed material parameters, which allow the developer to modify various properties.

Parameters:

  • Depth Fade Distance: Controls the width of reef to near the surface, that is completely translucent but by the foam.

  • Foam Size: Controls the width of foam near the coast.

  • Fresnel Exponent: Controls the gradient of the reef’s color based on normals.

  • Hardness: Controls the gradient of the reef’s color based on depth.

  • Reef Size: Controls the width of the reef.

  • Texture: Allows the user to select the texture applied to the mesh.

  • Color Deep: Allows the user to select the color in the deep zones of water.

  • Color Reef: Allows the user to select the color in the reef zones of water.
